The CURTAIN table appears like a fleeting snapshot where time stands still: The statics contradict a flowing, organic movement. A seemingly weightless curtain, thin-walled, supple, and soft, yet precisely crafted from high-quality solid wood, simultaneously supporting the large-format solid wood tabletop; a moment that makes us take a deep breath.

CURTAIN plays with our perception – similar to a sculpture: The symbolism of the wave becomes stronger the more the materiality of the solid wood subordinates itself. Surprised by this harmonious symbiosis between form and material, we nevertheless perceive the table as a restrained overall picture; the "curtains" convey an atmosphere of floating serenity and inner calm through their rhythm. CURTAIN is a pure solid wood table: The striking wave shape is carved from the solid material, an almost sculptural act, interpreted by state-of-the-art CNC technology. The sides are then carefully hand-sanded and oiled, bringing the flowing movement to life.

Color Stain

With stains, the natural structure of the wood remains visible. This was particularly important for ZEITRAUM, as the furniture pieces are unique due to the natural grain and color play of the wood. The typical semi-transparent look of the color stain ensures this remains. ZEITRAUM puts a lot of effort into surface treatment, which requires artisanal skill and cannot be applied automatically. Many individual steps of sanding, wetting, drying, staining, and re-drying lead to the perfect end result, which is extremely durable. The microstructure of the wood is grainy, which makes the stained wood appear naturally matte and capable of developing a patina despite its coloring.
