Green Living Eco Collection - Why green, sustainable design is important

When shopping at the supermarket, we scrutinize food carefully. What's in it? Where is it produced? When buying clothes, manufacturing and quality also play an increasingly important role. With the Green Living Eco Collection, we are calling for a Green Revolution in interior design as well. Because it not only protects the environment but also our health. We provide useful tips on how to make your home healthier with green and sustainable design. After all, the typical Central European spends, on average, about 90% of their lifetime indoors. How comfortable we feel, therefore, largely depends on the indoor climate. With the right furniture, we can actively shape this.

The natural basis for healthy sleep

Everyone knows the feeling after a strenuous day: you snuggle into a cozy bed and look forward to a restful night. Healthy sleep allows the body to recover from the day's strains, so we can face new tasks feeling fit and refreshed the next morning. Thus, materials, colors, and function play an important role in furnishing the bedroom. With the Eco Collection, we address these criteria and thus create a natural basis for healthy sleep.

Formaldehyde, solvents, benzene - What's in furniture?

For cost reasons, many pieces of furniture cut corners on materials. Instead of solid wood, beds, dressers, or shelves are made of particle board. The basic material for these boards is often industrial waste, reclaimed wood, construction, and residual wood. Often, there is no proof of which wood scraps the boards are composed of. Thus, it can happen that wood treated with preservatives is processed further. The substances contained therein can lead to headaches and nausea. The wood fibers are pressed together with the help of binders. These can contain formaldehyde, which is then freely released into the apartment. Too high a concentration of formaldehyde can, for example, lead to irritation of the eyes or respiratory tract or headaches. Furniture treated with varnishes may also contain solvents, whose vapors can cause headaches, dizziness, and nausea.

Our solution: Natural materials

To reduce risk and protect health, we rely on natural materials and their pure processing. For the Eco Collection, only certified oak from Europe was used. Natural oils are then applied by hand, which protect the wood and create a unique haptic experience of the silky-soft and warm surface. Completely harmless and pollutant-tested. Antistatic and anti-allergenic

Furniture for eternity

Since the 1970s, furniture has increasingly become a disposable product. Cheap furniture that serves short-lived trends. A new collection every year. The consequence: more and more resources were needed for furniture production, and waste volume increased.

“My grandmother once told me: Furniture is like good friends, they should accompany you for a lifetime.”

This wisdom inspired designer Michaela Kammer to study design and is ultimately reflected in her design for the Eco Collection. The sustainability of a piece of furniture is expressed not only in its materials but also in its design. Function combined with artisanal precision creates particularly durable furniture that users will enjoy for a long time. A timeless design also allows the piece of furniture to be adapted to any design trend with the help of changing accessories. Thus, Bed Eco also presents itself true to the motto: One bed, different looks. The idea behind the collection: Bed Eco Basic as the centerpiece can be supplemented with additional features. Thus, the bed adapts to the changing needs of its owner. From young and simple to cozy and familiar. This is how easily Bed Eco can be transformed from a slender bed to a cozy breakfast spot with an upholstered slipcover.
